A simple electronic ‘notebook’ for students to use as you teach R093
They can use it to write and highlight key content as well as write potential exam quesitons
Fully editable so they can add keywords and notes etc.
My RocketCake resources in one bundle including lessons, helpsheets, videos and keyword booklets. Please note: Videos will appear on YouTube in the future.
After completing visual identity practice I then move onto teaching students how to prepare images that they download off the web so they are suitable for a ‘main graphic’.
On the stages we work through setting up folders to keep them organised, download and store the images; change the resolution, take screenshots to evidence the steps taken; save the image for use later.
You will need to think of a practice idea as I use this sheet alongside a themed set of lessons preparing students for R094.
Note: Repurposing is mentioned though does not have detail about this as I have another dedicated resource for this.
First in a series of lessons that aim to teach KS3/4 students how to develop a website using RocketCake 5.
Completely reworked from my RocketCake 4 KS4 lessons - students now learn by creating a website with you, starting with a master page to promote consistency.
A good tool to help students in Creative iMedia R097 if their brief can be solved with a website as no coding is required.
Lesson includes teacher PowerPoint with videos guiding the process (and an all-new voice!); client brief (PDF); separate videos (MP4) for students to play on their own; student checklist; assets to help build the page quickly e.g. logo, text; teacher solution to tasks.
First of our series of lessons to teach RocketCake web design software
The lesson uses Version 3.3 (free, not professional)
Covers the interface; saving; the concept of a template (this is covered in a future lesson further); setting up a navigation menu; structuring a page with text, headings and containers
The lesson comes with a bonus alternative starter
The Web Design Using RocketCake booklet is a useful companion to our series of lessons as are our Web Design Using RocketCake videos
Includes lesson plan (non-editable)
42-page PDF booklet containing help for students in using RocketCake software
Contains a contents page to direct student to specific skills
If using with examined courses, remember to adhere to assessment rules - it is intended for practice and not as an assessment companion!
Great for Creative iMedia (R097); BTEC Level 3 IT (Unit 6) and BTEC Level 3 Computing (Unit 15)
Made for the practice phase of R097 but could be used for any lessons involving Clipchamp
PDF printable checklist where students can tick whether the technical skill has been used (with a clue to the part of Clipchamp where it is located).
Could be used for self-assessment, peer feedback or teacher assessment.
The checklist is not an expected list from any exam board - just a way to help promote as many skills as possible to students.
Part of a Knowledge organiser series to support my R093 Knowledge Map.
Includes student tasks and key information to learn for the Creative iMedia exam.
Could also be useful for a careers lesson.
This particular knowledge line is a 3-page PDF.
The third sheet in my Adobe Audition series
The PDF file is printable and helps students to understand how to cut, split, crop, trim and extend tracks using Adobe Audition.
A little sheet I set for cover for a KS3 class.
Ideally they would have been taught shapes before, but there is a link to a youtube video to help if not!
Third lesson in my series to help teach students how to use the basics of Adobe Illustrator (based on 2023 version)
The focus of the lesson is to help students to learn how to trace images as well be exposed to the rectangle, pen and shape builder tools as they create a lorry. Once the lorry has been created in Tasks 1-5 the focus shifts to the more challenging use of the Pen Tool plus the curvature tool to help make paths easier!
If you use the complete set of lessons this will help to re-practice the skills - needed for student success.
Lesson includes Microsoft PowerPoint presentation (including embedded videos); starter activity; plenary questions (based on Bloom’s Taxonomy); student tasks with Microsoft Word task sheet which acts as a tick sheet and direction to help video.
Suitable for Creative iMedia R094 as students could use Adobe Illustrator alongside Photoshop to design a logo.
Please note: lesson created using 2023 version. Whilst almost all tools will be the same, there may be a few that are not present in earlier versions.
My Adobe Photoshop CC 5 lessons and key skills sheets I used alongside them for differentiation and revision.
My videos (not narrated) for all of the skills to cover the R082 specification
Vanish and animation exercise sheets
Please note: lessons available separately and videos will appear on my YouTube channel in the future.
(originally for R082, so ignore references to standard and advanced tools!)
Includes NEW Photoshop CC Cribsheet
Part of a mini-range of visual aids to help students learn the graphics package
The sheet has a small set of activities on the second sheet
PDF format so could be shared electronically or printed if you want students to tick the boxes
Useful for Key Stage 3 (particuarly for differentiation) and/or Creative iMedia R082/R094
This sheet covers changing the brush size, spot healing brush tool; blur/sharpen/smudge and destructive/non-destructive workflow
Questions based on a fictitious economy airline brand that help students to revise the key concepts in visual identity.
Keywords at the bottom of the slide with meanings to help scaffold learners
Chilli icons to help show how challenging the task may be
File is a Microsoft PowerPoint file so can be edited
Resource also comes with editable answers in a Microsoft PowerPoint file
A little task for students to practice making an Interactive Multimedia Product using RocketCake
Resource includes: Crib sheet (PDF), task sheet (PDF) and some text for the home slide (text file)
Example RocketCake file and published website
NB. I used this as a revision task as I had previously taught students how to use RocketCake previously.
I also sell various RocketCake resources such as booklets, videos and lessons.
